Like most central Georgia towns, Turner County's economy once relied almost entirely on agriculture. Now, the Turner County Development Authority has recruited 8 new industries in the past 8 years. Everything from McElroy Metal, producing metal sheeting, Nationwide Fiberglass, the third largest manufacturer of fiberglass pools, Suncrest Stone, taking concrete and making it look like natural stone to our newest industry under way Georgia Alternative Energy Co-Op, which will produce ethanol from the corn provided by regional farmers.

One of our largest, existing industries is Centra Pak, employing over 450 Turner County residents. They repack candy for M&M Mars. Their employees take individually wrapped packages of candy and repackage them into specialized packages for holiday theme products. So the next time you see a special Santa or Valentines M&M package in the store, remember that it came from Turner County.

Our next largest employer would be Golden Peanut. The Golden Peanut facility in Ashburn is the largest producer of peanuts in the world! Golden sells the processed peanuts to Jif, Peter Pan and M&M Mars. They can store up to 20 million pounds of shelled peanuts in their cold storage at one time and they shell between 110,000 and 130,000 tons of peanuts each year.

Bio Plus is an unique addition to Turner County's industrial force. They convert peanut hulls into an organic, aggregate, glandular product. This granular product is the "filler" for chemicals, fire ant repellent and kitty litter.

Our existing and new industry base recognizes the appeal that Turner County holds. Come and join us!
