Turner Workforce Project

Turner County High School launches new Workforce Projec

ASHBURN, GA - Turner County High School has announced an exciting new Workforce Project for students as part of a collaborative effort with local organizations to prepare students for life outside of school.

Craig Matthews, School Superintendent for Turner School system, has a big vision for the future of the project and the system.

“The Turner County Board of Education has recently made plans to build a new Turner County Middle High School. Along with the new building, Turner County Schools has made plans to operate the school in a new way than we have in the past,” said Matthews.

The Workforce Project consists of several programs designed to make graduating students successful in the workforce including; College and Career Fair, Interview Prep Business and Industry tours, Work Based learning opportunities, and the Titans2Work Bootcamp.

The Titans2Work Bootcamp consists of tracks designed for fast-paced preparation, credentialing, and interviewing for a select group of seniors. Upon completion of the boot camp, students will be certified as Turner Workforce Project graduates. They’ll also leave with OSHA and forklift certification (manufacturing track) or customer service training and a ServSafe certification (hospitality track), a professional resume, soft skills, and top-notch interview skills.

The Turner Workforce Project is a partnership between the Turner County Development Authority, the Ashburn Turner County Chamber of Commerce, Turner County Schools, and Southern Regional Technical College and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

“This collaboration between our school system and our community’s needs is specifically designed to make Turner County a better place to do business,” said Ashley Miller, Executive Director of the Ashburn Turner Co. Chamber of Commerce and Assistant Director of the Turner Co. Development Authority.

Although the initial efforts to support the Turner Workforce Project is being financially supported by the Turner County School System, Turner Co. Development Authority - there are opportunities for local individuals and industries to sponsor and support the project, including an engraved brick sale.

Bricks will be used to lay the pathway to the vocational section of the newly built College and Career Academy. The bricks are 4 x 8 for $100 or 8 x 8 for $200 and can be purchased at the Ashburn Turner Co. Chamber of Commerce or Turner County High School.
