Bio-Plus is an unique addition to Turner County's Industrial force. Bio-Plus converts peanut hulls into an organic aggregate granular product, known commonly as "kitty litter". Over 40,000 tons of hulls per year are used in this process. Since its incorporation in 1989, Bio-Plus has experienced tremendous success. In fact, they are currently in the process of going through a million dollar expansion to meet the demands of their growing business! We are proud to have Bio-Plus as a part of our community. |

CentraPak, which repackages candy for M&M; Mars, is one of Turner County's largest businesses,with over 400 employees. These employees take individually wrapped packages of candy and repackage them into both specialized products and holiday theme products. For example, if a national corporation wanted a variety pack of Twix, Skittles, and Snickers for resale, CentraPak would design a carton and repackage it with the appropriate candy. An item that is unique to Turner County is the clear plastic candy holder with a character for the top cork. CentraPak has the mold that designs and produces all tops for these candy canes. So, if you see a Santa M&M; cane topper at Christmas in a store, remember that it came from Turner County!! |

Turner County is home to Golden Peanut, the largest producer of peanuts in the world! Golden sells peanuts to Jif, Peter Pan, and even M&M.; They can store up to 20 million pounds of shelled peanuts in their cold storage bins at one time, and they shell between 110,000-130,000 tons of peanuts each year. They have new innovative equipment, as shown on the right, designed to pick out flawed peanuts . . .while the peanuts are traveling at 50 ft/sec.! |
