HeBrew opens up Downtown for Coffee (and Lunch)!

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HeBrew Coffee Shop Opens in Downtown Ashburn

Just in time for #ShopSmallSaturday Downtown Ashburn will be welcoming its newest restaurant.  Opened by mother and daughter team Gail and Marie Jordan, HeBrew welcomes diners to fresh coffee, pastries and lunchtime fare.

Opened in the previous location of BetterTech, the pair hopes their nearness to the courthouse, post office and newly opening shops downtown will bring both locals and tourists from the nearby Crime and Punishment Museum into their dream shop.

“We are looking to give back to the community,” said Gail Jordan, “We want to be that place people can come gather.”

HeBrew will be open Monday through Friday from 8-5 p.m. and are open to adjusting their hours to suit their clients.

“We will be getting cable put in soon and hope to maybe host Friday night football games. We really want to be the place to go, so if a group would need us to open up one night or stay late, we would be willing to work with them,” said Jordan.

HeBrew will be serving coffee and bagels in the morning and during lunch, they will offer café style foods such as: salads, chicken salad sandwiches, soups and chili.

“We will offer lunch specials including sandwiches, chips, lemonade and tea for $5. I want to make sure it’s affordable but still quality,” said Jordan, “Our chicken salad is made from roasted chicken, not just canned.”

HeBrew is a passion project for the family involved with making the shop a reality.

“This has always been my daughter’s dream to open a coffee shop,” said Gail Jordan
.

Chamber of Commerce President and Economic Development Director Stevi Thompson is excited for the restaurant to open along with other shops growing Downtown Ashburn.

“Today is the first day of business for one of Downtown Ashburn newest businesses. We are excited about this latest addition to Downtown as well as R&M Clothing and Accessories featuring the latest in women’s fashions. There are currently two more Boutique shops slated to open soon.”
said Thompson.

This growth is a timely addition to celebrating #ShopSmallSaturday, a national movement to increase local and small business sales during the holiday season.

“I would like to encourage everyone to come out and support all of their downtown and local businesses to ensure their success.”
said Thompson

We are so proud to live in a community where the American Legion Post 98, Ashburn Builder's Supply, and Doug Hughes of Doug Hughes Pest Control would be willing to step up and help making coming home an option for this Veteran. Stories like this are what makes Turner County such a special community to call home.

"Ashburn Post 98 member John Henry (Jap) Felton was unable to come home from the nursing home until he had a way to get in and out of his home at 165 Georgia Drive Lot E8. Fellow members of Post 98 Mike Geoghagan and Warren Daniell started investigating how a ramp could be built. Geoghagan, Daniell, & Joe Rowan visited the site where the ramp would need to be built. Mr. Daniell drew a set of plans for the ramp. The idea was brought before the Legion members at their next meeting and it was presented and voted on by the members present. The membership approved the building of the ramp. Legionnaire Doug Hughes took it on to see how the building material could be obtained. Doug went to Ashburn Builders Supply and talked to the management there about helping this veteran come home. Mr. Hughes (Doug & Pegi Hughes) owners of “Hughes Pest Control” along with “Ashburn Builders Supply” split the cost of the material.
On Tuesday September 20, volunteers from Post 98 Joe Rowan along with his son Cameron met with Warren Daniell at the job site and started building the ramp. The finished ramp took two half days to complete. This work by Post 98 members along with the generous donation of material will allow veteran “Jap” Felton to come home and be able to get in and out of his home safely."

Turner Pride!

12/5/2016

Join members of the Ashburn Downtown Development Authority Friday May 13, 2016 from 10:00 am-12:00pm behind the Elrod Building for an “Alley Clean-up”. We are seeking volunteers to help spruce up the alley ways throughout the downtown area.

If you have a shovel, rake, gloves or are able bodied come down to the park and lend a hand! This is a great way to plug into your community and make a difference. Following the clean up a light lunch will be provided in the Elrod Building for the volunteers.

This is all part of “Turner Pride”, a new initiative being launched brought to you in partnership with the Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce, Ashburn Downtown Development Authority and the Fire Ant Festival.

Turner Pride will highlight these key areas:

Adopt-A Spot Program- This program enlists volunteers to help to remove litter from Turner County. Adopt-A- Spot is a litter prevention and beautification program of Turner Pride. A “Spot” can be your neighborhood, your school yard, a vacant lot, or any spot you are interested in keeping litter-free. Maintenance of the Spot requires a commitment from volunteers. The benefits to you and others include the beauty added to the area, the positive impact on our community, and personalized recognition. Anyone can adopt: Churches, businesses, non-profits or community organizations!

Turner Pride Spot of the Month- Each month, a committee chooses a yard or business from the community at random as the “Turner Pride Spot of the Month”. The winner receives a certificate and has a sign placed in the designated spot throughout the month. The Spot will be featured in the Wiregrass Farmer, on the Chamber’s webpage and on social media.

Recycling- We will be developing partnerships with businesses throughout the community to designate official drop off sites for various recyclable materials such as E-waste, prescription medication, motor oil, and more. We will also be designating special dates throughout the year where clothes, shoes, books and toys can be donated to be distributed to organizations where they can be put to the best use.

Education- Waste, and how we choose to handle it, affects our world’s environment – This is your environment, everything that surrounds you including the air, water, land, plants and man-made things. By now you know that you need a healthy environment for your own health and happiness, you can understand why effective waste management is so important to you and everyone else. The waste we create has to be carefully controlled, to be sure that it does not harm your environment and your
health. Turner Pride strives to protect that environment and educate children.

Call the Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce for more information and to see where you can get involved today 229-567-9696.
