Our Community Someone once jokingly said that you know youre in a small town when you dial the wrong number, but still talk for 20 minutes. Those living in Turner County can identify with that saying. Turner County has all of the charm you expect from a rural historic county. It does not take but a few trips to the local hardware store before the owner calls you by name. Children are raised to respect their elders, and family values are still taught at home. A visitor's first reaction is often Everyone here is so friendly. We like it that way. We work hard to insure that Turner County stays a close knit community and a county in which you would like to live and raise children. Turner County is also a prosperous community located in the heart of South Georgia. It has Hwy. 41 and I-75 running through the center of the country, both of which are within two miles of the industrial park. The Florida line is only an hour's drive, and we are approximately 160 miles from Atlanta. We are home to many large industries such as Golden Peanut, the worlds largest peanut processor and CentraPak, who packages candy for M&M Mars Co. We also have many family owned farms which dominate our county. In order for you to better know us, we have composed a Community & Economic Profile which hosts a variety of information. For specific questions that are not addressed in the profile, please contact us at 800-471-9696 or e-mail us at [email protected]. Schools Although our quality of life standards for our children start at home, it is important that they are continuously practiced throughout the school year. The Turner County School System understands this, and it strives to not only make our schools a safe place for our children, but also provide them with a good learning environment. From Pre-K through 12th grade, the Turner County School System has implemented programs designed to further the education process, promote creativity, and expose its students to a variety of fields. We are extremely proud of our school system, especially the progress it has made in the past few years and would love to tell you more about it. As always, please contact us for more information. |
