Turner County Chamber Economic Development











Welcome! We are glad you decided to make Turner County your new home! Since moving is always such a difficult process, we have put together some information that hopefully will make your transition smoother and a little easier. Arriving in Turner County: Once you have found your new home, there are several things you must do before you move in. We've broken these down into seven categories:  

Relocating in Sycamore or Rebecca 
When relocating to these areas, contact the respective City Hall at 229-567-4296 for Sycamore, or 229-643-7212 for Rebecca.

Postal Service
Make sure you have filled out a change of address at your previous location. This will ensure that your mail arrives at its appropriate destination in a timely manner. Next, our post office suggests that you fill out a sheet of paper with the first and last name of each person who will be living in your home. This will allow you better service from our postal employees. If you would like to contact our post office, you may call 229-567-2432, or visit at 218 East College Avenue in Ashburn.

City of Ashburn Services
While living in the city limits, the City of Ashburn will provide you with water, sewer, natural gas, propane gas, and sanitation services. In order to get services turned on or transferred to your name you must visit City Hall, located at 121 East Madison Avenue. They will need your social security number and a picture ID before activating service. Deposits are required for water and gas service. If you own your home, a $25 deposit for water and $35 deposit for gas will be required. If you are renting your home, a $75 deposit for water and $100 deposit for gas will be required. Sanitation is $14.50/month.

County Services
All permits for digging wells or septic tanks must be obtained at the Turner County Health Department. Sanitation can be set up by calling the County at 229-567-3431. Sanitation is $13.75/month. All building permits in the county must be brought before the Zoning/Building Inspector. He can be reached at 229-567-3563.

Power Services
The City of Ashburn�s electrical services are provided through Georgia Power. In order to set up your account you must have your social security number, a personal reference with phone number, your employer's name and phone number, and the address of your new home. Deposits ranging between $50-$150 may be required. To set up service or transfer existing service, please call 888-660-5890. The County is serviced by Irwin EMC. They can be reached at 229-468-7415. Deposits may be required and will range from $30-$250. Make sure you have your social security number and physical address of your new home when you call.

Phone Service
Turner County is covered by Alltel. New service or the transfer of existing service can be set up by calling 800-501-1754. Alltel asks that you have your social security number and physical address of your new home before setting up service. A deposit of $160 may be required. If the home is rented, Alltel requires the name and phone number of the landlord.
