Turner County has all the charm you expect from a rural, historic community.  It only takes a few trips to a local store before the owner calls you by name.  The City of Ashburn has a population of 3,800 while the county has a population of 8,100.

Adding to its quality of life, Turner County is conveniently located on Interstate 75, 80 miles north of the Florida border and 160 miles south of Atlanta.  Turner County is just a few hours drive from beaches, mountains or metro areas, while still enjoying small town charm and mild South Georgia weather.

Education - The Turner County Board of Education is committed to promoting an exceptional educational experience. Turner County Elementary School serves grades K thru 5 in a new state of the art facility and the school has met or exceeded the standards for the state mandated Adequate Yearly Progress for five consecutive years.

Turner County Middle School (grades 6 through 8) and Turner County High School (grades 9 through 12) offer complementary curriculum in order to prepare students for college and the workforce.  Because of the excellent instruction they receive, one-third of Turner County's High School students qualify for the HOPE scholarship.  Ashburn, Turner County also has one of the highest graduation rates in the region.

Ashburn is also a twenty to forty minute drive from several area colleges including ABAC, Southern Regional Technical College, and Albany State University.

Health Care - Two outstanding hospitals are located within minutes of Ashburn, Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia (20 minute drive) and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia (40 minute drive).  Both hospitals provide Turner County residents with excellent family clinic facilities.  Tift Regional provides Health Plus Medical Office Center for specialty care evaluations, check ups, and general family medicine. Ashburn Family Practice and Pediatrics opened an convenient care facility in summer 2017.  It is open 7 days a week and has extended hours during the week and weekend. 

Culture - The Tiftarea Arts Council is a three county collaborative that provides arts programing to Turner County residents year round. Furthermore, there is a local Turner County Arts Council that hosts performances and exhibits in Turner County.
