
Turner Recreation Summer Camps
The Turner County Parks & Recreation Department has opened up registration for its youth summer and fall programs. Planned activities include:
Summer H.O.P.E Academy. The Healthy Opportunities and Physical Fitness Education Academy (H.O.P.E.) will be open to rising 4th – 8th graders and will emphasize healthy lifestyle choices. The students will create a community garden and use it to learn healthy food choices, business skills, and community pride while becoming physically more active. The Academy will run June 10 through July 18 (Monday – Thursday) at the Youth Resource Center in Ashburn from 9 am to noon. The program is FREE but participants must register because space is limited. Volunteers are needed for this program.
J.A.M.S. Academy. The JERICHO Arts, Media, and Sports Youth Academy (J.A.M.S.) is dedicated to providing rural youth with the skills needed to succeed in all aspects of the lives. The Academy will be open to rising 9th – 12 graders. Choices! Is an interactive program broken into 4 components: Life Choices, Career Choices, Talent Choices, and Education Choices. A special emphasis will be placed on providing the skills needed to become members of the working media including: researcher, writer, director, producer, editor, audio tech, camera operator, and on-air talent.
Fall Football & Cheer. The Turner County Recreation Youth Football and Cheer League will be open to youth ages 7 -12. Registration cost is $50 per child. Cost includes uniform and basic equipment. Space is limited so register early. Payment plan options are available. Volunteers are needed for this program, including coaches. Soccer.

COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Turner County Parks & Registration is a program that is dependent upon volunteers for survival. These volunteers are needed for programs, activities, and sports. If you have a few hours daily to share with the youth of our community, or just have a day that you would like to share a particular skill or craft with the youth of our community, please register online as a volunteer or contact the department. COACHES TRAINING If you have volunteered as a coach for Turner County Parks & Recreation or would like to coach for or interested in becoming a volunteer coach for any sports, please contact the Turner County Parks & Recreation Department at 229-417-7003. Coach’s certification classes begin on June 18. You must pre-register for the class by registering as a coach online at the website listed below.
